RAM 1500 vs Honda Ridgeline

Ram 1500 stacked up against the Honda Ridgeline

When customers in the Salt Lake City area are looking for a new truck they know they can count on Layton Hills Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for a great selection in brand new Ram 1500 pickup trucks.

The Ram 1500 is one of the most popular all-purpose pickup trucks around and for good reasons. It's dependable for work or play, comes in a staggering amount of exterior colors and is available in a long list of available trims.

But, despite all that, we know it's not the only truck out there that might work for you. So, we've broken it down with its competition to see which truck is the best option.

The Ram 1500

Ram trucks come with a unique spring coil suspension system, making them the smoothest ride around for a pickup truck, whether the bed or loaded with gear or completely empty. This suspension system, along with Ram's luxurious, high-quality interior materials, combine to make the Ram 1500 a nice, easy ride that's a step up for pickup trucks of this class.

In 2017 the Ram 1500 has eliminated their optional six-speed automatic transmission and made the 8-speed automatic standard across all trims. The Ram's available trims for 2017 include:

  • The Tradesman
  • The RAM 1500 Express
  • The Big Horn
  • The Rebel
  • The Sport
  • The Night
  • The Laramie
  • The Laramie Longhorn
  • The Limited

Customers also get to choose the style when they purchase the Ram 1500:

  1. A four-door full-sized cab
  2. A two-door regular-sized cab
  3. A quad cab with backseat passenger space

Ram 1500 vs. Honda Ridgeline

  • Power. When it comes to overall power, the Ram 1500 comes out ahead of the similarly-sized Honda Ridgeline. In the base trim level for both trucks, the Ram has 305 horsepower and 269 pounds-feet of torque, compared to the Ridgeline's 280 horsepower and 262 pounds-feet of torque.
  • Towing ability. The Ram 1500 handily beats the Ridgeline when it comes to towing capacity as well. The Ridgeline tops out at just 5,000 pounds for towing ability, while the Ram can tow up to 10,640 pounds.
  • Comfort. The Ram 1500 is roomier than the Honda Ridgeline on the inside. In every single passenger area inside the two trucks, the Ram 1500 comes out ahead. More legroom, more headroom, more hip room. The passengers riding in your Ram 1500 will be able to stretch out a bit more than those in the Honda Ridgeline.

If you're in the Layton area, stop by to see a Ram 1500 in person. We're at 1234 North Main Street in Layton, convenient to greater Salt Lake City, including Ogden, Bountiful and Riverdale.
